SAMAN owns fifty percent of Comisaco S. A., the concession holder for the administration of the India Muerta dam.

The private sector has been the main force behind irrigation development in Uruguay, especially rice producers, who rely heavily on these dams to secure their crop production.

The India Muerta dam is located in the department of Rocha, between the cities of Velázquez and Lascano. With more than two hundred kilometers of canals, each year it irrigates approximately ten thousand hectares of paddies in the country’s main rice basin.
